What's in a name?

So people have been wondering what names we have been thinking about. There are three names that we really like. Each one means a lot to us so we aren't sure what to choose yet.

We are also not sure if it will end up being one of these three so if you want to suggest names we are down with that too.

Considering that my(Tyler) parents decided months before I was born that I was to be Gavin, and after they saw me, they changed it to Tyler, it is kinda becoming hard to pick a name this early. A lot of me thinks that we will pick a name and when our little girl gets here we will want to pick something that was never on our minds yet. I like the 3 names we have so much now that I don't want to pick a name now cuz it will jinx whatever name we choose just because of the stigma I have given it.

The top 3 names right now for a girl are(in no particular order):
  1. Malia
  2. Dorothy
  3. Tawny
Malia has always been one of my favorites and because I like it so much Melissa likes it. The added bonus is it's very close to Melissa's but not the same. the nicknames that come with it are mimi, lili, and lila - which are all very cute.

Dorothy is fun too because it kinda matches the current trend of older names like (emma, tucker, sawyer) and it also has sentimental value to Melissa because of a great aunt. it as well comes with great nicknames. Dotty, dot, polka dot.

Tawny we got from our next door neighbors. She is a 15 year old friend of ours that her and her sister are what we want our girls to grow up to be like and it is such a cute name that almost no children are named. the nicknames with this one are awesome too. wontawn, neenee

Since writing this blog 3 nights ago and since i haven't posted it yet, I also thought of sawyer for a girl(which i had previously only thought of as a boys name because of the show Lost). what do you think of the 4?

It's a Girl!

We went in for our "high definition" ultrasound this morning going into it, I was fairly certain that we were going to find out that the little peanut was a boy, even though during our regular check up on Friday the ob/gyn told us that it was probably a girl. What must have happened was that while we were looking at peanut's underneath she must've taken a whack at the umbilical cord (she has quite the arm), because for just half a second there was what looked very much like boy parts.
So what I'm kinda figuring is that she knew exactly what we were looking at and for, got bored and thought, "Golly, What would Grandpa do if he were in this situation?" got a big smile on her face as she wound up and whacked the cord. She must have spent the next couple of minutes busting up and laughing as the doctor poked around searching for what we were all sure we had just seen. Anyway, I'm sure the great-grandparents are getting a kick going through all of the play-by-plays.
I really got scared at first thinking about raising a girl, I've always thought I would be more of a "boy mom". But now after thinking about it for a couple of hours, I am so excited! This really is gonna be soo much fun! Plus, I'm gonna get years of 'free' entertainment.

The baby is kicking me!

I didn't realize how long it had been since we updated our blog, Wow!

Well, the baby decided that it was time that I started getting woken up in the middle of the night, so it started kicking me early in the morning last Sunday (Jan. 13). I guess I may have been a little over-excited because I scared Tyler pretty bad when I started yelling and shaking for him to wake up. It was a very welcomed surprise!

Tyler has gotten a change in responsibilities at work and is really enjoying the change and new challenges that it presents. He is such a hard worker and a wonderful husband... I really can't believe how blessed I am to have him.

I haven't gotten really sick for almost 2 weeks now and am gaining weight and starting to look pregnant! I've worked very hard for this! We are having fun going through the baby names books and trying to figure out what name will fit our baby, it's gonna take a while (we'll probably decide sometime around July). We find out the sex of the baby next Wednesday -baby permitting.
